| PURPOSE : |
| The SPUTUM PRETREATMENT SOLUTION is used for the concen-tration and inactivation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (T.B.)/Acid Fast Bacilli in human sputum. |

| PRINCIPLE : In the past, sputum specimen was directly used to make a direct smear for the stain of T.B. in the bacterial laboratory. The accuracy and discover was lower. Statistically, the discovery rate of positive specimens from direct smear was about 30-40%. Furthermore, during the procedure of heating step, T.B. in the positive sputum specimen will vapor into air. The vapor T.B. may infect the operator or people in the bacterial laboratory. |
